A: A high water bill could be something as simple as a running toilet. AAP will help you find your leak & make the necessary repairs to restore your home to a leak free system.

Q: How do I shut down the water to my house?
A:
In a plumbing emergency, you'll need to stop the flow of water as quickly as possible.
Each fixture or appliance has a shut off valve & can be shut off by turning the handle clockwise. If the handle is stuck or broken, turn off the water to your house by locating the service entrance.
In most Bay area homes, you should find the shutoff valve in the front of the house under a hose bib (faucet) or where the water pipes enter the home, turn this gate valve handle clockwise to stop the leak.

Q: How do I shut down my water heater?
A:
Shut down the water to your tank immediately, by turning the gate valve handle clockwise located at the top right of your water heater.
Turn off the gas immediately, locate the gas cock & turn the handle 1/4 turn until it stops.
Remember your water heater tank holds water & the leak may continue until help arrives.
